Marija Dejanović was born in Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1992. She grew up in Croatia, Sisak, and currently lives in Zagreb. Her poems and literary reviews were published in magazines and internet portals in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Italy and Romania.
In year 2018 her manuscript Ethics of Bread and Horses (Etika kruha i konja) won "Goran" award for young poets and “Kvirin” award for young poets. Manuscript Heartwood (Središnji god) won "Zdravko Pucak" award. Both manuscripts were published in the same year and well received by critics, readers and media.
Dejanović likes to experiment, so she performs her poetry with musicians Sara Renar and Vedran Peternel on their project "In Temporary Residence With Humans" (U privremenom smještaju kod ljudi).
She took part in festivals "Goranovo proljeće 2018. and 2019.", "Kvirinovi poetski susreti 2017. and 2018.", "Prvi prozak na vrh jezika 2018.", “Stih u regiji 2018”, “Castello Di Duino 2018.” , "Zgodne žene spašavaju stvar 2018", “World Without Walls 2019” and presented her work at “Thessaloniki Book Fair 2019”. She is currently finishing graduate studies in literature theory and pedagogy.
